1. What makes the MirageVision™ Outdoor LCD HDTV unique?
Answer: Its cabinet and interior components have been custom altered to withstand the harsh outdoor environment. Also the LCD HDTV is unique in that it allows for amazing outdoor sunlight viewing. TV’s are purchased from various manufactures then custom modified by Global Outdoor Concepts Inc. technicians for outdoor use. The brand names vary depending on models that can be obtained at any given time, to keep the costs as low as possible
2. Is the MirageVision™ LCD HDTV “waterproof?”
ANSWER: No … Our MirageVision™ LCD TV’s are designed to resist downward rain and snow and are not made to be “waterproof.” The MirageVision ™ LCD TV’s are considered “water and Weather Resistant.” As a matter of fact no other residential TV is tested to be “waterproof”. All outdoor or indoor LCD TV’s must be designed to allow the inside cabinets hot air to escape. Our MirageVision™ LCD TV’s come with a waterproof TV cabinet cover that should be used when the TV is not in use. After all, who would want to watch TV will get rained or snowed on WHEN NOT IN USE AND NOT COVERED.
3. Will the MirageVision™ LCD HD TV’s give you the same picture quality in outdoor sunlight, as compared to an indoor LCD TV installed indoors?
ANSWER: The answer is NO… Even though out MirageVision ™ is equipped with “enhanced picture quality,” coupled with increased contrast and brightness for outdoor sunlight, it is common sense that the TV will have a better picture in a shaded area or when not installed in full direct sunlight… just like your indoor TV. By the way, do not get fooled by other competitors &/or aggressive salespeople telling you anything to the contrary!!!
4. Will Moisture or Humidity damage the MirageVision™ TV’s
ANSWER: The MirageVision™ internal circuitry is coated with a special silicone based solution that prevents internal moisture shorting out the internal circuitry.
5. How can the MirageVision™ LCD HD TV’s breathe and still repel down pouring rain?
Answer: All MirageVision™ LCD TV’s are equipped with rear cabinet RainGuard™ Technology that allows internal hot air to escape and repels down pouring rain or snow. This is crucial to prolong TV’s life.
6. How will the MirageVision™ exterior cabinet hold up in ultra high UV or extreme cold environments?
Answer: The outside cabinet of the MirageVision™ is coated with a UV/Teflon Coating by DuPont™. Please keep in mind that when the MirageVision™ is installed in a “salt air” environment, some pitting or fading can occur over time.
7. When the MirageVision™ is installed outside, do you have to run multiple wires to the set?
Answer: You can eliminate the use of running Video/RF Coax and Audio wires from the indoor source to the outside TV by having us install our (optional) Digital Wireless Video/Audio package. You install the “transmitter” indoors (at your source) and it transmits the Video (s-video_ and Audio signal out to the MirageVision up-conversion receiver.
8. What is the best way to install the v for the highest quality HD picture?
ANSWER: For the best possible picture quality you should install either HS satellite receiver or HD Cable Box Directly to the MirageVision™ “component” jacks or “HDMI” jack. When using the MirageVision™ Optional Wireless Package it will only give you 480i/720i. It will not give you 720p/1080i/1080p, which is full HD TV. For professional installing, you should contact a local TV/Electronic Integrator Specialist.
9. Is the MirageVision™ warranted for outdoor use?
Answer: Yes, the MirageVision™ is warranted for One year Parts and Labor by Global Outdoor Concepts Inc. Most all Indoor LCD TV’s only carry a 90 day Manufacturers Warranty
10. Why should I pay the extra cost of having a TV made for the outdoor…? Why don’t I just buy and indoor LCD or Plasma set and install it outdoors?
ANSWER: first of all, a Plasma TV is filled using a gas technology and will not withstand hot and cold environments… LCD is manufactured using “liquid Crystal (sand like) technology which is much better for outdoor use… Secondly all indoor TV’s are not weather proofed so moisture, humidity, and rain can enter the TV’s interior and cause the internal circuit to short out. Excessive “dust” Also damages the” indoor TV”. Thirdly, you won’t even be able to see the “picture” in the daylight hours. And last but not least, the outdoor elements, such as; UV, ice, salt air & etc. will degrade the indoor (unprotected) TV very quickly.
Can you install the MirageVision™ right next to your pool or spa?
Answer: you should always install you Outdoor MirageVision™ LCD TV at least 5 to 10 feet from Swimming Pools or Spa standing water. Most cities and towns have electric codes that will not allow electrical items within a certain distance from pools and spas.
